Project Love took the trailer out for the first time on Sunday, September 11, 2011 and showered and fed about 10 homeless people here in Galt.  We BBQ'd chicken, had mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and french bread.  We had a nice evening getting to know the people and sharing some stories with them.  Thanks to our volunteers who came out and the support we got.  We will be doing the same every friday starting September 23rd.  Today the trailer is still in the shop or we would be taking it out today.  Check out our website and facebook pages for updates.

Well, the event is over and we survived.  The heat wasn't too bad, we went through a lot of icy cold water, keeping our volunteers happy.  We had 52 raffle giveaways, thanks to alot of donations from our community.  Everyone seemed to be having fun with all the activites, paddle boats, canoes, petting zoo, bake sale, beanie baby bingo, dunk tank, bounce house, crawdad derby, horseshoes, and the very popular jail, where for $1.00 you could send someone to the jail and they had to find someone to pay 50 cents to get released. 

We learned some valuable lessons to use in the future.  If your running an event, make sure you have control of what is being done and said. 

Well our big event is coming up in only 2 days and are we prepared?  I certainly hope so.  We of course are running around doing the stuff that needs to get done.  So, the yikes part is this:  Yesterday, I found out that our emails weren't coming to us since the early part of August.  Where they were going I have no idea.  But our online registration was being sent to our email and I don't know if the person on the other end got a bounce back or if it seemed everything is good.  So now I don't have a clue how many people may have registered through our website.  Last I heard we have 80 cars and bikes coming, about 30 vendors and hopefully enough volunteers to help us run this event smoothly.  We are looking forward to a great day, weather is suppose to be 97 degrees according to Yahoo, so it's a good thing there will be be ice cold drinks and a pond to jump into if you dare. 

Our office is now officially set up, sharing space with Galt Sign & Screenprinting, thanks to Chris and Rhea for that.  On Monday, I brought in a computer, it's a bit slow but good enough for now, Then on Tuesday I brought in 2 big boxes of supplies.  And each day brought more until Friday, I brought in my comfy chair.  So now, It's all good!  Donations can be dropped off there, come in and say hi.  See you this weekend if your in the area! 

This morning, Project Love and the Girl Scouts met at the laundromat and washed, dried, folded and ironed clothes from 10:00 until 3:00 or so.  Thanks to Heather, Mia, Brianna, Laura, Dave, Kevin, Ashley, Stephanie, Haley, Cheyenne and I we got a lot done.  Can't wait til Saturday!

ProjectLove is busy getting down to the wire for our grand debut on August 13, 2011 at Tractor Supply Co., in Galt.  Along with Local Girl Scout Troop 311, we will be providing free haircuts and clothing for local children and teens in need.  We are looking for donations of new and used clothing and accessories for back to school looks for children and teens.  We are also looking for volunteers to help wash, sort, and iron these clothes to be ready for August 13.  Anyone with hangers, and racks, we would love to borrow them for this event also.  We are also looking for volunteer hair dressers and/or barbers to make this event a success.  There will be other organizations there with a BBQ, jump houses, Music, media and more.  Please call us to help out.  (209) 263-0626 - Kevin ext 1, Chris ext 2, Donna ext 3.
